Game-Hangout · Minecraft
Java Edition, Fabric mods from Modrinth, and the world lives on whoever's PC is on. No Realms, no rented box.
Free. No account. Server files: ~235 MB, once, on the host's PC.

The app downloads the Minecraft server files (~235 MB), starts the server on their PC and opens an encrypted tunnel to your friends. No port forwarding, no router settings.
From the app or through an invite link. They see the world card, press join, and they are in — with the same mods as everybody else, automatically.
When the host logs off, the next one to start picks the world up right where it was. An always-on PC of your own can hold it overnight. Optional.
Fabric loader, mods from Modrinth. You pick them in the app, the list is shared in the session, and everyone runs the same set — nobody sends jar files around in Discord.
Missing dependencies (Fabric API, Cloth Config, the usual suspects) are spotted before the start. If a mod still breaks the server, the built-in bisect finds it instead of you removing mods one at a time.
Nothing hidden — this is the trade:
Most Fabric mods need Fabric API, many need a config library on top. The app reads each mod's requirements from Modrinth and tells you what is missing before the server even starts — one button adds them.
Usually a port forwarding or firewall story. With Game-Hangout there is nothing to forward: the app opens an encrypted tunnel between your PCs and the server answers on an address inside it. Your friends join from the app, not from an IP you paste.
One of forty mods broke it, and nobody knows which. The app's bisect starts the server with half the list, then half of that, until it names the one — you read a sentence instead of a log.
Every release is signed, and the app keeps itself up to date from then on.
